ETOBICOKE, ON – Today, MPP Christine Hogarth (Etobicoke—Lakeshore) announced reduced fares for commuters travelling from Long Branch and Mimico GO Stations.

Starting April 20th, PRESTO Card users travelling from Mimico GO Station to Union Station will see their fares reduced from $4.98 to $3.70 each way, a reduction of $1.28 per trip. The cost of a trip from Long Branch GO Station to Union Station will decrease from $4.98 to $3.99 for PRESTO Card users, a savings of 99 cents per trip.

“Making transit more affordable for Etobicoke commuters was a major personal commitment I made during last Spring’s election campaign,” said MPP Hogarth. “Our government puts people first in every decision and that’s whey we are delivering transit relief so quickly.”

This is part of a broader realignment of GO Transit fares across the GTHA. Commuters making shorter trips will see a decrease in their GO Transit fares.

This fare reduction builds on previous transit improvements announced by our government, including improvements to Mimico GO Station at a reduced cost to taxpayers, 17 new weekday trips servicing the Lakeshore West line, and elimination of fares for children under 12 years old.

“Today’s announcement is more great news for Etobicoke commuters, and encourages more people in to get out of their cars and onto the train while keeping more money in their pockets,” said MPP Hogarth. “I’m proud to be part of a government working hard to get Etobicoke moving and making life more affordable.”
