National Caregiver Day

March 7th 2020

Today is National Caregiver Day!

Across Ontario, caregivers provide essential support to a family member, partner, friend or neighbour. We salute your dedication! Please join me in thanking caregivers today. #CaregiverDay #ThankYou

Caregivers are ordinary people making an extraordinary difference in our community. They support a family member, partner, friend or neighbour in need, and today, on #CaregiverDay April 7, we celebrate your incredible dedication! Learn more at caregiverontario.ca

During COVID-19, our Etobicoke-Lakeshore community caregivers are helping to keep the people they support healthy and safe. Today, let caregivers across this beautiful riding know just how much their dedication is appreciated! Thank you to each one of you.

We celebrate caregivers for the dedicated support they provide to millions of Ontarians, day in and day out -- even and especially in such challenging circumstances as we all face today.

We also want to alert you to a new portal launching Thursday to help support people in communities across Etobicoke-Lakeshore and across the province. Together with long-term care organizations and other health partners, Ontario Caregiver Organization has created a new #caremongering community caregiver connection portal, which will help connect volunteers, goods and services to family caregivers and provide support to long-term care homes.

The portal will be linked from OCO's website at https://ontariocaregiver.ca/covid-19/, where your constituents can also find a suite of tip sheets and online supports for caregivers.
We hope you and your team will share this useful and practical information with your constituents, so that those who can help know how they can safely and effectively support the health and well-being of families, long-term care residents and LTC staff under pressure, in your constituency.

We wish you and your family good health and welcome any opportunity to discuss these initiatives and more with you at your convenience.

Happy Caregiver Day, and I hope you will join me in celebrating their tremendous contributions in all communities of Ontario.

Sincerely,

Christine Hogarth, MPP
