Hello Etobicoke - Lakeshore residents. Right now, we are facing an unprecedented and challenging time in regard to COVID-19. More than ever it’s important to come together as a community and that each of us do our part to protect the health and safety of each other.

Since we first learned of COVID-19 as an emerging public health issue, the government has been diligently monitoring the developing situation and taking necessary steps to protect the health and wellbeing of all Ontarians. Information is changing daily, even hourly. The government continues to work with partners at every level to ensure the health and safety of Ontarians remains top priority.

Be proactive, if you experience symptoms such as cough, fever, breathing difficulties etc., please use our self-assessment tool at www.ontario.ca/coronavirus or contact Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000. Please visit the same website for all the up to date information on COVID-19.

Earlier this week, the Premier was joined by the Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, the Minister of Finance and the Solicitor General to announce that the government will be closing at-risk workplaces to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The businesses listed as essential are necessary to ensuring the health and safety of all Ontarians. We need to maintain critical infrastructure to ensure Ontarians have access to the essential supports and services they rely on. Additionally please use this website to access the list: www.ontario.ca/page/list-essential-workplaces.

As your MPP, I’m working in close collaboration with different ministries to listen to the expert recommendations to ensure the health and economic vitality of our region. On a personal note, I would like to say that social isolation and distancing are one of best concrete steps we can take to protect our loved ones and those most vulnerable in society. As we visit the grocery stores let us get the things we need while also considering the other families, seniors and individuals in our community. We can leave enough for everyone.

Finally, a giant thank you to our nurses, doctors, pharmacists, cashiers, janitors, truck drivers, various retail workers, and all others on the front-line dealing with the COVID-19 virus spread. Their dedication is greatly appreciated.

The constituency office is not taking walk-ins until further notice for the protection of constituents and our staff. However, staff is still working diligently to ensure that your concerns are heard and that we can ensure Etobicoke – Lakeshore residents feel supported. As the constituency staff work remotely and do things a little differently, we will be responding to your emails as soon as possible, you can also choose to leave a voicemail at any time. We will do our very best to return your calls in a timely fashion.

If you want to keep updated, please sign up for my e-newsletter at christinehogarthmpp.ca Take care of yourself. We will get through this together.

Sincerely,

Christine Hogarth, MPP
